The bingo name comes from a corruption of the name Beano, this was the name of a form of bingo played in America arround 1920. It was called Beano, because beans were used to cover the numbers.
Firts time it was played in Atlanta, Georgia, at a carnival.
It was named "Bingo" by a salesman called Edwin Lowe, who heard someone yelling accidentaly "bingo" instead of "beano". To his request a math professor increased the number of combinations in bingo cards.
By 1930, Leffler had invented 6000 different bingo cards, he was paid for each card, each combinations. The more card he made the harder his job was and near the end was charging $100 for each unique card produced. It says that soon after completing the task he went insane.
A priest from California suggested Lowe to use the game for raising church funds. When bingo started to be played inchurches, it became very popular.
Comparing to the other games, Bingo is a relatively new one, it is a game of chance.
The goal is to achieve a certain pattern on a card by marking out numbers. The numbers are called by the host.
Most bingo cards have the letters B, I, N,G,O running horizontally across the the card. A column of numbers is under each letter.
